Materials & inventory

Track materials and inventory

Create production and packing materials, record inventory, and connect recipes to listings.

Choose the right material type

Add material window with fields for name, stock unit, material type, and stock tracking.
Choose the material’s role independently from its unit and stock-tracking choice.
  • Production materials are consumed while making an item.
  • Packing supplies cover boxes, mailers, inserts, and other dispatch materials.
  • Packing-list items can represent reusable or selectable packing content.
  • Synced filament reflects spool inventory supplied by Bambuddy.

Choose tracked inventory or a fixed unit cost

Keep stock tracking on when quantity, purchase date, or lot price matters. Turn it off when you only need a stable per-unit cost and do not count how many units are available.

  • Tracked materials use purchase lots, remaining quantities, and weighted costs.
  • Untracked materials use the unit cost saved on the material.
  • The combined supplier lead-time and safety-buffer window applies to forecast alerts for tracked materials.

Add a stock entry when supplies arrive

Record the quantity and cost, then add the supplier or source and an optional product link. If you leave the supplier blank and enter a product link, Meldsy uses the link’s website as the source label. Start another entry when the price or supplier changes.

Add stock entry window with sample supplier, optional product link, quantity, total cost, and calculated unit cost.
Save each purchase separately so its source, product link, quantity, and unit cost remain clear.

Use materials in listing recipes

Assign the amount used by one sellable item. Compatible units let Meldsy calculate Can Make and deduct inventory consistently as work is completed.

Use synced filament

A Bambuddy color can be assigned directly, or a parent filament family can act as a recipe and cost shortcut. The family does not combine physical inventory; individual colors and spools remain separate.

Clone and reorder the library

Clone a material when a new size, color, or supplier item should start from similar settings. Drag materials into the order your team expects, or use the keyboard move controls. Cloning copies the setup but not the original material’s purchase lots.

Correct or remove inventory carefully

Use Remove stock for loss, damage, or a lot that is no longer usable. A fully depleted purchase entry can be deleted from history when it was entered by mistake. Deleting the material itself can remove its inventory history and break its link on older orders.
